The Association has volunteered to assist with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Fund Raiser for 2001.
The Sixty Five Roses Wine & Food Extravaganza is sponsored by AmeriCredit Corp. and benefits the Tarrant County Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Office, Honorary Chairs – Anne and Robert Bass.
Details are as follows:

Sixty-Five Roses Wine and Food Extravagana
Featuring Signature Dishes From our Area’s Most Renowned Chefs, Complimented with Exquisite Wines from Around the World

Where: On the Grounds of the Marcee and Grant James Residence 6008 Highway 377 South Fort Worth, Texas

Why: More than 12 million Americans (one in 31) are symptomless carriers of the defective CF gene. Through events like this the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will continue to create and fund innovative research programs that will someday save the lives of those affected with the disease. In the United States 1 of every 2,000 births results in cystic fibrosis. There are many families counting on our success. The speed with which we find new treatments and a cure for cystic fibrosis is of great importance. Half of the people with cystic fibrosis die by the time they reach their early thirties.

The Association has volunteered to assist with the ushering and concessions at the Fort Worth Shakespeare in the park festival.
We first assisted on Tuesday, June 5. Our next volunteer day is July 3, 2001. We need 8 to 10 people working from 6:00 to about 10:30 pm at Trinity Park in Fort Worth.
The organization will get credit for assisting, which is a great way to promote the group. This is also a great opportunity to support the organization and make some new friends. I encourage anyone that is interested to sign up.
Reunion 2001 was held on June 16, 2001 at Six Flags Over Texas. (Pictures not yet available.) The reunion was an all day event, held in the park, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Six Flags. The Reunion was opened to everyone that worked in the park and their families. Reunion 2001 was sponsored in cooperation with the park administration.
Approximately Four hundred and fifty former employees, from various departments and all different seasons, and their families attended the event. Among our guests were twelve employees from the park's first season, 1961; Errol McKoy, a first-year employee that became general manager of the park in 1978, and his wife Sandy Mckoy; and Mary Temple Wynne, an early employee of the park and daughter of the park's founder Angus Wynne.
Our program consisted of a trip through time to visit the park in 1968, as well as a recap of the first 25 years and then of the first 40 years of the park's history.
The park also provided 12 door prizes which were presented during the rally.
The Reunion included:
A day in the park at an incredible price;
meeting and visiting during the day at our booth in the Mexican section;
A rally/program at the Southern palace;
A two hour after hours fling with exclusive ride time on the Titan and the Giant;
Free food;
kiddie packages to entertain the little ones, with items donated by the park and the association.
The Association will again be sponsoring a booth at the Fort Worth Oktoberfest. The event is Saturday October 7th and Sunday, October 8th, 2000. This will be our third year to participate in this event.
We will be running our 'Lunker Plunker booth, shown above. Players attempt to shoot ping-pong balls into the Speelunker's baskets. All proceeds go to our organization.
We also sign up new members each year.
The Oktoberfest has lots to do, even for the youngest children. For more information on the Fort Worth Oktoberfest, visit the event's official site at: fwokt.com
We are selling tickets by mail.
Advance tickets are $4.00, $6.00 at the door. Children under Six are FREE.
In addition to saving $2.00 with the advance tickets, we take $2.25 for the organization for each ticket sold.
To purchase tickets, send a check or money order to: Six Flags Former Employee's Association, 700 NE Loop, Suite 214, Hurst, TX 76053. Make checks payable to: Six Flags Association of Former Employees.
We must have your order by September 28, 2000, so do not order any later than September 25th, 2000.

In October, 1999, the Six Flags Association of Former Employees sponsored a booth at this year's Oktoberfest, at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Karen Trammell was this year's Oktoberfest Coordinator.
We hosted the 'Lunker Plunker Game, in which kids shoot ping pong balls from a 'Lunker Plunker, into a bucket. This is a traditional Speelunker game, dating back several hundred years. Although the original Plunkers were made of reeds and straw, ours are plastic. Jim & Patty Brothers again loaned us their original Speelunker to highlight the booth.
This year's Oktoberfest was a major event. It was the THIRTIETH (30th) year of the Oktoberfest and the 150 birthday of Fort Worth.
We had approximately 583 players and earned $291.50. In addition we earned $51.25 in advance ticket sales. These funds are going to be used to our charitable fund.
Several new individuals signed up to join the group. Also numerous people took the forms and information sheets to fill in later or to give to other family members that worked in the park. We visited with a lot of "X"s and had a good time.

The Six Flags ex-employees made their first public appearance the weekend of October 3rd and 4th at the Fort Worth Oktoberfest. The event served as both a membership drive for the organization and as a fund raiser.
Our booth was located near the middle of the convention center. The booth was well decorated with TWO original Six Flags Spee-Lunkers, the Organ pumper and a Skier. In addition, we had the original treasure chest from the cave in which we displayed our prizes.
We also had a display board on loan from Six Flags with large pictures of park rides. The highlight of the booth was a videotape provided by the park which contained footage of virtually all of the park rides from 1961, including opening day ceremonies, to the 1974 addition of the Music Mill. We showed the tape all day long, each day, and it drew a lot of comments.
We sponsored a game for children in which the child reached into a large treasure chest (hand-crafted by our leader Alan Reynolds) and removed a ping pong ball. Based on the color of the ball, the child won a small price. The kids seemed to enjoy the game and we had some good prizes.
We had approximately 667 players and earned $338.50. In addition we earned $87.50 in advance ticket sales. These funds are going to be used to defer our expenses and start our charitable fund.
Approximately 35 individuals signed up to join the group, about 5 of those are already signed up on Alan's board, giving us about 30 new members. Also numerous people took the forms and information sheets to fill in later or to give to other family members that worked in the park. We visited with a lot of "X"s and had a good time.
Our planned reunion at the Oktoberfest was prevented by the large crowds in the auditoriums. We simply couldn't find a place for everyone to sit together. Those of us that got together had a very good time visiting. I am afraid, however, that no one else could find us. I apologize to anyone that tried to find the reunion but couldn't.
Thanks to all that helped out:

We still are looking forward to a big reunion for next year. Tell all of your friends to sign on now. We need a large mailing list.
